CANDOUR POLICY

Our Duty of Candour Policy

Candour is a statutory duty to be open and honest with all patients or families when

something goes wrong that appears to have caused or could lead to significant harm in the

future.

The MedArt Aesthetica by Dr.Coates has a duty to be open and honest with patients when

something goes wrong with their treatment or care.

In order to minimise the risk of something going wrong the owner will fully discuss the

proposed treatment, explain the risk and provide information as to whether the risk occurs often

nor a very low risk of complication.

In the event that something goes wrong with a patient treated at MedArt Aesthetica by

Dr. Coates at the time of treatment or as a result of treatment the owner will:

- Tell the person when something has gone wrong.

- Apologise to the person.

-Offer an appropriate remedy/ solution or support to put matters right (if possible).

-Explain fully to the person the short and long term effect of what has happened.

-Record full event into patient’s notes.

-Contact insurers and explain. Ask for advice.

-Contact Cosmetic Courses and explain the situation .Ask for advice and assistance.

If the incident is as a result of an adverse drug reaction or a medical device this will be reported to

the MHRA using the yellow card system. The date, time and nature of the incident will be documented in the patient’s notes.
